Sea Town of Portorosso

Working on Luca was an exercise of creating a history to the town. These "older" elements needed to have looked as if they were there for generations all the while exhibiting an old world charm that was appealing and warm. There was a lot of effort to make the structures look as if it was assembled by hand and in reality they were but digitally. The buildings were crafted in the computer with plaster over brick and mortar, with chunky hinges and aging shutters. Model weight was also a very real consideration as the cobblestone and stone structures were modeled. Only the faces of the
stones that were seen were modeled and backfaces removed where
possible.
I also modeled the newer elements like Ercole's shiny red scooter and
bicycle but still having that 70's appeal. There were also several different scooters
that I constructed in all states of repair. These vehicles are also fully rigged for character interaction including pedals, handlebars, chains, contact points, ignition, deforming wheels, etc. I also made most of the boats, fully rigged and multiple variants for size, type, fishing, rowing, and accessories.
